Beyond “can’t sit still”.

3-Hour Workshop | $75 per person | Perth | Take-Home Resources | Certificate of Attendance

When knowing what to do isn’t enough
ADHD can be very visible in a classroom. It can also be almost invisible. One student is out of their seat, interrupting and acting before they think. Another is sitting quietly while completely losing track of the lesson. Another knows exactly what they need to do, genuinely intends to do it, and still somehow doesn’t get started.
ADHD is far more complex than attention and hyperactivity. Students can experience differences in attention, impulse control, working memory, motivation, time awareness, emotional regulation and executive functioning.
We’ll look at what ADHD can feel like from the student’s perspective and why things that appear simple from the outside (getting started, remembering equipment, following several instructions, waiting, organising work or estimating time) can require far more effort than we realise.

Different students. Different ADHD.
There isn’t one ADHD student. Presentation can vary enormously between students and across different environments, tasks and stages of development.
We’ll look beyond stereotypes and consider strengths as well as challenges, including why some students may fly under the radar for years.

Making school work better for an ADHD brain
Rather than repeatedly telling a student to focus, try harder or get organised, we’ll explore practical ways to make those things more achievable.
You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of ADHD and strategies that can support attention, organisation, participation, regulation and learning without expecting the student to somehow become less ADHD in order to succeed.

Who is it for?
Educators, school staff, Parents, Carers and Tutors who already have a general understanding of neurodiversity and want to take a much deeper look at ADHD, at school and at home.
