Description

Know what to do when a student is in crisis.

3-Hour Workshop | $75 per person | Perth | Take-Home Resources | Certificate of Attendance

When the situation suddenly becomes serious
A student tells you they’re thinking about suicide. You notice signs of self-harm. Someone is having a panic attack, appears disconnected from reality or is in acute emotional distress.
These are moments when staff can feel an enormous responsibility to say and do the right thing, often while managing their own fear about getting it wrong.

Recognise. Respond. Refer.
This workshop explores warning signs and immediate responses across serious mental health presentations, including suicide risk, self-harm, panic attacks and psychosis.
We’ll look at crisis communication, how to remain calm, what supportive language can sound like and when the priority needs to shift from conversation to safety and escalation.

Know your role and your boundaries
School staff are not expected to provide clinical treatment. They do, however, need to understand their responsibilities, follow appropriate pathways and know when additional help is required.
You’ll leave with greater confidence to respond appropriately in a mental health crisis while maintaining professional boundaries and keeping student safety at the centre of the response.
