Description
Look beyond the behaviour.
3-Hour Workshop | $75 per person | Perth | Take-Home Resources | Certificate of Attendance
What happens when the nervous system learns to expect danger?
Trauma can change the way a young person experiences safety, relationships, trust, attention and control. In a school setting, that may show up as hypervigilance, withdrawal, anger, avoidance, shutdown, difficulty with relationships or a strong need to stay in control.
The behaviour may be visible. The reason behind it often isn’t.
Safety before strategy
This workshop looks at trauma through a practical school lens, not by asking educators to become therapists, but by helping them understand how past and ongoing experiences can shape a student’s responses in the present.
We’ll explore triggers, stress responses, relational safety and why some common behaviour-management approaches can unintentionally escalate a student who already feels unsafe.
Trauma-informed doesn’t mean no boundaries
Predictability, connection and choice can sit alongside clear expectations and safe limits.
You’ll leave with practical ways to reduce unnecessary threat, respond to dysregulation and build environments that are safer and more predictable for students affected by trauma, while staying firmly within the educator’s role.
