Description
When knowing what to do isn’t enough.
3-Hour Workshop | $75 per person | Perth | Take-Home Resources | Certificate of Attendance
Why can’t they just get started?
Some students understand the task. They have the ability to do it. They may even want to do it. And yet getting started, staying with it, organising the steps or actually finishing can feel almost impossible.
That gap between knowing and doing is where executive functioning becomes important.
The invisible skills behind learning
We’ll look at the skills that help students plan, initiate, organise, remember, shift attention, manage time, monitor their work and regulate themselves while completing a task.
When those skills are under pressure, the result can look like laziness, carelessness, poor motivation or defiance, even when that isn’t what’s happening at all.
Make the task more doable
Instead of repeatedly reminding a student to “be organised” or “manage your time”, we’ll explore ways to externalise the skills they’re finding difficult through structure, prompts, visual supports, routines and task design.
You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of executive functioning and practical strategies that make it easier for students to turn intention into action.
