Description
Support without creating dependence.
3-Hour Workshop | $75 per person | Perth | Take-Home Resources | Certificate of Attendance
Help now. But keep the long game in sight
When a student is struggling, stepping in and helping is often exactly what they need. But good support should also help students gradually build the skills to understand themselves, advocate for what they need and do more independently over time.
This workshop explores that balance: providing enough support for a student to succeed today without unintentionally making them more dependent on adult support tomorrow.
Regulation before independence
We’ll look at co-regulation, age-appropriate emotional regulation strategies and quick techniques that can be used in real classrooms.
From there, we’ll consider how support can gradually shift as a student develops confidence, self-awareness and the ability to use strategies for themselves.
Build capability, not just compliance
Independence doesn’t mean doing everything alone. It means having a growing understanding of what helps, knowing when to ask for support and developing the confidence to participate in decisions that affect you.
You’ll leave with practical, relationship-based strategies for helping students become more capable, confident and self-directed learners.
